“Splash of
Color”
by Shelley Knapp
“Splash of
Color” is an original design and was inspired by using left over ˝ inch
square triangles. Not knowing what to do with them I asked a quilting
friend. She showed me how to make the star blocks. I used the court
steps as a secondary block for the body of the quilt. After making a few
blocks the quilt started to take on a life of its own. With each
additional block I made the quilt would go in a different direction.
Playing with the color and the blocks was very exciting and rewarding in
the end. By using the stars in the corners and the tradition log cabin
block for the border it allowed me to try something different for the
quilting. The quilting in the outer border looks like a big splash to
me, hence the name “Splash of Color”
